Our History

Growing up near Driffield, East Yorkshire, Stephen and June moved to White Lodge Farm in 1991 after a brief stint in Haxby, York. Sadly after suffering with a long standing brain tumour June lost her battle in 2014, leaving Stephen, Joe & Lucy in charge.
Situated 2 miles out of Easingwold, North Yorkshire, the Farm was derelict and required a huge amount of restoration and updating to make it is useable and liveable. Our other business is Joinery manufacturing making bespoke timber products which proved especially useful for the work that was need (www.alljoineryservices.co.uk). It’s been slow going, but 26 years after we moved in we aren’t far from what we imagined.
Numerous animals call White Lodge there home, not least our three dogs – Duke our German Sheppard. Shadow our Flatcoated Retriever and finally Shiloh, our Beagle. They will normally provide the first welcome upon entering the yard!
The first cattle arrived shortly after which were surprisingly Dexter cattle, chosen at the time for there beef and small size which led us to believe easy to handle – how wrong could we be!
Herefords arrived in 2006 and we’ve been gradually building the herd ever since with the last Dexter leaving the farm in 2016.
Most of our cattle go for breeding stock through word of mouth and our local markets. We slaughter a small amount a year for our local area and ourselves.
Our cattle are treated as part of the family and we would like to think we give them the best possible life while they are in our care. All fields are maintained for when they are grazing and the sheds are regularly bedding up with fresh barley straw.
Most of our cattle are in a purpose built shed which was erected in 2008 to provide a dry, secure and well ventilated area for them to stay with all farm operations performed in house reducing the amount of machinery brought in.
Were proud of what we’ve achieved and would be pleased to show you the cattle and how they are kept.
